Update
The route cause of the DNS outage was detected and resolved. An obsolete record was causing issues with name resolutions in the new version of the software. This record has been purged.

The IT Systems Team is moving forward with the upgrade at this time. An update will be posted once the final steps are complete.

DNS is currently working on campus. All names and IP addresses are resolving successfully. All services are functioning properly. The IT Systems Team continues to work with the vendor to find the root cause of this issue before continuing with the upgrade.

Domain Name System (DNS) went down around 20:30 for campus machines. It is currently running in a degraded mode. Depending on a machine configuration, you might not be able to resolve a server or systems name to an IP address. This is impacting some campus services, for instance authentication to the wiki and myVILLE.

The Information Technology Systems Team is working with the vendor to resolve this issue. An update will be posted within the next hour.

The DNS/DCHP database has been backed up successfully. Work is being done to convert it to the new version.

The Information Technology Systems Team will be upgrading DNS/DHCP services on Tuesday 07 August 2018. The service is being upgraded and migrated to new servers during this maintenance period.

Millersville University users will experience brief and intermittent outages of DNS and DHCP services after 5pm on this date. Outages are expected to last no more than 15 minutes at a time.

Users with Virtual Desktops may need to physically restart their computers Wednesday morning after this maintenance.
